Oro Del Desierto Wins Again at World Competition

3 years agoBy OOT Staff

Rafael Alonso Aguilera SL has won 2 gold awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest for its Oro Del Desierto brand.

The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil in Andalusia (Spain) using traditional harvesting methods.

"It's been a quite dry year," said Rafael Alonso, the owner. "So difficult to obtain quality, but finally we made it. We find solutions and we carefully selected the fruits for our best EVOO brands"

Rafael Alonso Aguilera won Gold Awards for the comapny's Oro Del Desierto Picual, an organic medium monovarietal and Oro Del Desierto Organic Coupage, an organic medium blend.

"The important thing it's not to make good olive oil one year, but year after year," Alonso said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
