Storm Wins Gold at 2022 NYIOOC for Picual

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Storm from Spain has struck Gold at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

Knowing that we now have global credibility within the industry means everything to us.

Anthony Old said about the award

The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Andalusia (Spain) from Picual olives using traditional harvesting methods.

Storm's Anthony Old said the company was spared some of the recurrent challenges reported by other producers this year such as drought and wild temperature swings. "There were no major issues apart from the usual reliance on nature to deliver a balanced climate, and anticipating our perfect harvest period," he said.

Storm won a Gold Award for its medium Picual. "Winning this prestigious award is a wonderful achievement for us," Old told Olive Oil Times. "It gives an artisan company like ourselves the opportunity and platform to take our passion and our business to the next level."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
