The company produced 3,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil this year from 2,000 Frantoio, Coratina, Leccino, Manzanillo and Pendolino olive trees using traditional methods of collection.
The company met with some challenges during the 2019/2020 season, company owner Jeanene Tremoulet said after learning of the award.
"Labor was difficult to find and the cost was high," he said.
The winning oil was Pitchouline, an organic medium blend.
"[Winning was] an amazing accomplishment after the hard work and dedication from our staff, friends and family. [We maintain] a large organic farm using biodynamic methods, conserving and respecting nature. Every year our farm flourishes with flora, fauna, a diversity of beneficial insects and healthy soil thus yielding quality certified organic extra virgin olive oil," Tremoulet said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
