Apollo Wins Again for Its Hand-Crafted Blends
Apollo Olive Oil has won two more NYIOOC World awards, bringing its total all-time wins to nine at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We have won many awards throughout the years, but winning at NYIOOC is particularly special because of the international competition and the high quality of the judges.
Gianni Stefanini, Owner, Apollo Olive Oil
The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil in California from several cultivars including Frantoio, Lecchino and Mission.
Harvesting by hand is a painstaking process, but one that yields the best results, company owner Gianni Stefanini said today when learning of the wins.
"Hand picking into belly buckets is always a slow and expensive method of picking but it produces the least oxidation and the best olive oil. Then monitoring the oil processing at all stages in our vacuum mill to reduce oxidation requires constant vigilance and consistency," Stefanini said.
The winning oils were Apollo Olive Oil Mistral, an organic medium-intensity blend that took Silver and has won twice before; and Apollo Olive Oil Sierra, an organic medium blend that garnered its sixth consecutive Gold Award.
"We have won many awards throughout the years, but winning at NYIOOC is particularly special because of the international competition and the high quality of the judges," Stefanini said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
