California’s Pasolivo Wins 5 Awards at World Competition
Pasolivo from the United States has won five awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
We are always honored to participate and receive such high accolades on an international stage. Our Pasolivo team works very hard on farming, milling and blending practices, so it is wonderful to see our efforts rewarded.
Marisa Bloch Gaytan, general manager
The Central California producer earned five Gold Awards for four medium-intensity blends – its Cucina, Tuscan, Classic and California Blend brands. The fifth Gold Award came for its Il Singolo brand, a medium Ascolano.
"We are always honored to participate and receive such high accolades on an international stage," general manager Marisa Bloch Gaytan said.
"Our Pasolivo team works very hard on farming, milling and blending practices, so it is wonderful to see our efforts rewarded," she added.
Pasolivo has been a serial winner at the NYIOOC, earning 32 awards since 2016. Despite the sustained success, Bloch said the previous harvest was challenging due to California's unrelenting drought.
"The drought definitely made things more challenging as we had to spend more time watering our trees," she said. "We are very fortunate that with our farming practices, we were able to have a good harvest."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
