Organic Roots Wins Gold in World Competition
Organic Roots Olive Oil, from the United States, has won two Gold Awards at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
A Gold Award at the NYIOOC is especially great as it is on such an international stage, observed and recognized by our peers in the olive oil industry and the public outside the industry.
Nathan Polit said about the award
The California-based producer earned the awards for an organic medium Koroneiki and an organic medium Arbequina.
"Winning any gold medal is always momentous," co-owner Nathan Polit said. "A Gold Award at the NYIOOC is especially great as it is on such an international stage, observed and recognized by our peers in the olive oil industry and the public outside the industry."
The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil using machine methods.
While this year was no better or worse than previous ones in California, Polit said his farm remained at nature's mercy.
"Mother Nature is always keeping us on our toes," he said. "Her timing is only her own and we are stuck hoping it aligns with our growing seasons."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
