Virrey del Pino Blend Wins Gold
Olivarera Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe from Spain has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Andalusia (Spain) using traditional harvesting methods.
It is a great satisfaction and an honor to be awarded in this prestigious contest and to see that all the work carried out jointly by the partners, workers and management begin to give results in search of quality.
German Cortes
The company overcame drought conditions to produce its award-winning blend Virrey del Pino.
"The harvest has been a great challenge due to the drought," said German Cortes, the company's marketing manager. "It is very difficult and a challenge to harvest under these conditions, the members of the Cooperative have done an extraordinary job, to be able to bring the fruit in optimal conditions and thus be able to obtain this oil extra virgin olive."
Olivarera Ntra. Sra. De Guadalupe, S.C.A. won a Gold Award for its Virrey del Pino, a medium blend produced in Andalusia.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
In the 2022 NYIOOC, the tenth edition of the contest, 1,244 entries from 28 countries are competing for the olive oil industry's most coveted awards.
