Olio Saracino Awarded at 2023 NYIOOC

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer Olio Saracino has been awarded at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality competition.

I am very proud and honored to have received this award in New York, especially since participating in this prestigious competition was a nod to my late father, who was born in New York.

Benedetto Garro, owner

The Apulian producer earned a Silver Award for a medium blend, its first-ever at the NYIOOC.

"I am very proud and honored to have received this award in New York, especially since participating in this prestigious competition was a nod to my late father, who was born in New York," owner Benedetto Garro said.

Olio Saracino produced his award-winning extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. Garro said every harvest provides plenty of challenges for small producers.

"The challenge is to harvest and mill on the same day," he confirmed. "We are only four people, and all are in a good mood."

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
