Olimagina Picual Awarded Again at World Olive Oil Competition
Spanish producer Olimagina has won a Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for a medium-intensity Picual.
This award is the result of a year of hard work. This encourages us to improve our production and design a better product!
Rocio Soriano, CEO
In the 2019/20 season, the Andalusian company produced 8,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional harvesting methods. It was the second consecutive year their Picual extra virgin olive oil was an award winner at the NYIOOC.
"This award is the result of a year of hard work," CEO Rocio Soriano said. "This encourages us to improve our production and design a better product!"
Soriano said that the reward is especially satisfying after the unexpected events of the autumn, in which the olives ripened much more quickly than anticipated.
"The olives ripened very quickly and choosing which trees to harvest in order make our green oil was very difficult," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
