Olirium Wins With 2 Organic Varietals at World Competition
Spanish producer El Gran Teix has won two Gold Awards at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
Winning at the NYIOOC is a great honor and a great recognition for everybody involved in making Olirium organic olive oils. The two Gold Awards are a fantastic prize and serve as a great motivator to keep us working toward excellence, while taking care of the soil, the environment and the planet.

The Catalonia-based company earned the wards for its Olirium brand of oils: an organic medium Arbequina and organic medium Argudell.
"Winning at the NYIOOC is a great honor and a great recognition for everybody involved in making Olirium organic olive oils," owner Manel Adell said.
"The two Gold Awards are a fantastic prize and serve as a great motivator to keep us working toward excellence, while taking care of the soil, the environment and the planet," he added.
In the 2019/20 season, El Gran Teix produced 12,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Adell said that each year of the olive harvest brings new challenges, but overall 2019 was a good year for him and his team.
"Every harvest brings new challenges, but 2019 was generally a good year for us," he said. "The flies were under control and production levels were in the medium-high range."
"The Empordá region in the northeastern part of Catalonia, not far from the French border, did not suffer as much dry weather as other regions," he added. "The proximity of our farm to the Mediterranean Sea meant we had great weather in the spring."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
