Monte Rosso Wins Again at World Olive Oil Competition
Monte Rosso has won a Gold Award for the fourth consecutive year at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
We highly value all our achievements at other competitions, but this one takes the cake. It will undoubtedly greatly increase the reputation and significance of our brand both locally and in a wider regional scope.
Davor Dubokovič, CEO
The Croatian company picked up the award for its premium medium blend. In the 2019/20 season, Monte Rosso produced 20,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
"We highly value all our previous achievements at other competitions, but this one takes the cake," CEO Davor Dubokovič said. "It will undoubtedly greatly increase the reputation and significance of our brand both locally and in a wider regional scope. We are looking forward to coming back next year with an even better product."
In spite of its success in the competition, Dubokovič said that the company's volume was severely impacted by hot and dry weather.
"The dry and hot summer resulted in a very early harvest with only half of the expected yield," he said. "We hand-picked our first olives already on September 25 and finished with our 14.000 tress by the end of October."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
