Monastery Krka Awarded in World Competition

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Monastery Krka, the Serbian Orthodox Church's Diocese of Dalmatia, triumphed at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

The Croatian producers earned a Gold Award for its eponymous medium blend. In the 2022/23 crop year, the monastery, founded in 1350 and dedicated to the Archangel Michael, produced about 2,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil.

"[Winning at the NYIOOC] is very important for the Monastery Krka in Dalmatia," said Nikodim Kosovic, the Serbian Orthodox Bishop of Dalmatia. "The 2022 harvest was one of the best harvests."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
