Buža Monovarietal by Grubić Wins Gold

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Croatian grower Grubić struck gold at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest. The Istrian producer earned its first-ever Gold Award for a medium Buža.

After years of hard work, this award confirms our quality and encourages our further efforts.

Emanuel Grubić said about the award

"Winning at the NYIOOC means a lot to all members of the Grubić family," owner Emanuel Grubić said. "We are very proud and grateful. After years of hard work, this award confirms our quality and encourages our further efforts."

In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 3,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

"Every harvest season is different," Grubić said. "Each brings some new challenges to overcome. Changing climate conditions, rising production prices and a lack of workers are just some of the difficulties."

"Despite that, the 2022 harvest season will be remembered as one of the best in terms of yield and quality of olive oil," he added.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
