Dalmatian Producer Laurenta Awarded in World Competition
Croatian producer Laurenta has won its first-ever Silver Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
I feel great. It was our first showing at a big competition and we hope next year will even better.

In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 1,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil in Dalmatia from Oblica and Krvavica olives using traditional methods. Laurenta earned the Silver Award for its medium blend.
"I feel great," owner Domagoj Živković said. "It was our first showing at a big competition and we hope next year will even better."
The producer behind Laurenta added that the award is especially gratifying after a challenging harvest, exacerbated by Dalmatia's ongoing drought.
"It was a hard year because our trees are without irrigation, and the amount of rain was very low," he said. "That led to a lower amount of fruit on the trees and, in the end, a lower amount of olive oil."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
