Italian producer Sant’Anastasio has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
It was a great harvest in Tuscany. Our challenge is that we rehabilitate old olive trees to maximize both the production and quality of our olive oil. This requires investments of both time and finances.
Ella Korop, CEO
In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 3,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil in Tuscany from a blend of olives using traditional methods. Sant’Anastasio earned the Gold Award its Elleivæ Biologico brand, an organic medium blend, which also earned the Gold Award in 2018.
"It was a great harvest in Tuscany," Ella Korop, the company's CEO, said. "Our challenge is that we rehabilitate old olive trees to maximize both the production and quality of our olive oil. This requires investments of both time and finances."
"The coronavirus restrained sales but we coped with the challenge," she added.
