La Casa del Sole Claims Victory at World Competition

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Italian producer La Casa del Sole has won its third award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

The Campania-based company earned a Silver Award for an organic medium blend, which previously earned Silver Awards in 2017 and 2021.

Owner Margherita Romio-Persico said she was "proud and excited" to win the awards. In the 2022/23 crop year, La Casa del Sole produced 1,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

Romio-Persico confirmed that extreme weather events, with drought affecting the trees during the summer, and then large quantities of rain complicating the harvest.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
