Viña Morande Awarded for Izaro Premium Blend
Chilean producer Viña Morande has won a Silver Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
As a team, we feel great satisfaction with this award. This is the result of many years of work, giving our best efforts to be able to bring the best quality olive oil to people's tables around the world.
Carolina Terc, marketing manager
In the 2019/2020 crop year, the company produced 100,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from a blend of olives using traditional methods. Viña Morande earned the Silver Award for its delicate Izaro Premium Blend.
"As a team, we feel great satisfaction with this award," Carolina Terc, the company's marketing manager, said. "This is the result of many years of work, giving our best efforts to be able to bring the best quality olive oil to people's tables around the world."
For the producers behind Viña Morande, there are no easy harvest seasons in the Casablanca Valley and 2020 was no exception.
"Agriculture itself always involves different challenges," Terc said. "In our case, water scarcity during summer and frost during the winter are the most significant ones, due to our location in Casablanca Valley."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
