I Pavoni Gets 5th Straight Win at World Olive Oil Competition

5 years agoBy OOT Staff

The Italian producer, I Pavoni, has won two awards at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

Although it is the fifth year in a row that we win a prize, seeing the name of our company among the best oil producing companies is enormously emotional.

Giovanni Simeone, CEO

The Puglian company took home a Gold Award for its Pavoni brand, an organic medium, and a Silver Award for its its Pavoni Masseria Fortificata, an organic delicate Leccino.

"Although it is the fifth year in a row that we win a prize, seeing the name of our company among the best oil producing companies is enormously emotional," CEO Giovanni Simeone said.

In the 2019/20 season, I Pavoni produced 8,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil from Coratina and Leccino olives using traditional methods.

Simeone said that the company enjoyed an abundant harvest after a difficult year in 2018.

"After a disastrous 2018, this agricultural year was abundant and of excellent quality," he said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
