Based in Puglia, the company earned its fourth-straight award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for an organic medium-intensity Coratina.
"It is very rewarding to know that our hard work, in the face of so many obstacles during the year, has, in any case, produced an excellent extra virgin olive oil that we have always known from year to year to be exceptional, even in difficult times," owner Giuseppe Campanale said.
In the 2022/23 crop year, Olio Mazzone produced 10,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. "Aside from being a light harvest year, we had challenges with the scarcity of water and a late cold snap in April," Campanale said.
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
