Farmfactory Europe Awarded in Second-Straight NYIOOC

a year agoBy OOT Staff

Farmfactory Europe from Spain has won an award at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The Catalan producer earned a Silver Award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for Mikel's Fruit brand, an organic medium Hojiblanca.

Chief executive Jordi Giro celebrated the news of the award and said he looked forward to sharing it with the company's friends. Farmfactory Europe previously won two Gold Awards in 2022.

In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 200,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil. Giro said the climate during the harvest proved to be the company's most significant challenge.

"The harvest was very difficult because the weather in Spain was bad; no rains, high temperature, etc., but the olive oil was fantastic," he said.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
