5th-Generation FarmFactory Europe Awarded

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Spanish producer FarmFactory Europe has won two Gold Awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

The fifth-generation company, which sources olives from Catalonia and Andalusia, earned the awards for its Mikel's Fruit brand, an organic medium Hojiblanca, and Bio Green, an organic medium Hojiblanca.

"I am very happy to get this award," said Jordi Giro Marques, the company's chief executive. "For us, it is very special because we are working hard to produce good olive oil."

In the 2021/22 crop year, the company produced 200,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

"This harvest was very good," Marques said. "The rainfall was short, but finally the olive oil obtained from the olives was amazing."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
