Family Behind Cortijo del Prado ‘Euphoric’ After NYIOOC Win
Spanish producer El Prado Lucía e Hijas has won a Silver Award at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
It was great news, we feel euphoric! It has been exciting for us to follow the contest and see it live. It is one more reason to keep working hard.
Alonso Romero Miguel said about the award
The family company picked up the award for their Cortijo del Prado brand, a delicate Hojiblanca.
"It was great news, we feel euphoric," co-owner Alonso Romero Miguel said. "It has been exciting for us to follow the contest and see it live. It is an honor to receive this award, from the most important competition in the world, since it recognizes all the effort made. It is one more reason to keep working hard."
El Prado Lucía e Hijas produces extra virgin olive oil in Andalusia from Hojiblanca olives using traditional methods.
Romero said the Silver Award is the culmination of a long year full of hard work for the family.
"Behind this bottle, there was plenty of meticulous work throughout the year," he said. "We made sure that the olives were in the optimal condition from their collection and thus ensured the quality of our oil."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
