Cockatoo Grove Wins Gold for Organic Blends at World Competition

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Australian producer Cockatoo Grove has won two Gold Awards at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

What a thrill for us all to win Gold at the NYIOOC. It will allow us to highlight our regenerative, organic farming practices and build an increased awareness of our world-class oil amongst retailers and consumers.

Tim Dugan, managing director

Based in southern Victoria, the company earned its first awards at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest with a pair of medium blends: Midnight Organic and Classic Organic.

"What a thrill for us all to win Gold at the NYIOOC," said Tim Dugan, the company's managing director. "Such a prestigious award is validation of the hard work our team puts in throughout the annual growing and harvesting cycle."

"It will allow us to highlight our regenerative, organic farming practices and build an increased awareness of our world-class oil amongst retailers and consumers," he added.

While Dugan said that every season comes with its own unique challenges, the climate during the harvest was benevolent.

"Who would be a farmer they say? Challenges of the pandemic - people and rising costs - have of course affected most of us all around the world," he said. "We are happy to say, this year, the elements have been relatively kind to us, with settled weather during flowering, good rains and we enjoyed a frost-free harvest."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
