Fazenda Irarema Wins Fourth Straight NYIOOC Accolade
Fazenda Irarema from Brazil has won its fourth-consecutive accolade at the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The Minas Gerais-based producer earned a Gold Award for a medium blend of Koroneiki, Arbequina, Arbosana, Grappolo olives at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
Moacir Carvalho Dias, the company's chief executive, was excited to hear the news of the win, crediting the region's volcanic soils, "ideal climate" and altitude of 1,580 meters for his years of success at the NYIOOC.
Since its founding in 2018, the company has earned a Best in Class, two Gold Awards and a Silver Award at the competition.
Along with another high-quality yield, Dias added that this harvest has been the largest harvest by quantity as well.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
