Casa de Valpereiro Awarded in New York

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Casa de Valpereiro from Portugal has won an award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

The Trás-os-Montes-based producer earned a Silver Award for its Præmium brand, an organic medium-intensity blend.

Chief executive António Menéres Manso said he was very grateful to win the award, the company's third at the competition since 2017.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Casa de Valpereiro produced 3,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil from its 6,000 trees using traditional methods. Menéres said drought and high temperatures had impeded the harvest.

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
