Alessandro Musco Victorious Again at World Competition
Italian producer Alessandro Musco has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
This award represents for me the achievement of a goal that has been awaited for years. The award gives me the motivation to improve and enthusiasm to continue to spread the culture of extra virgin olive oil around the world.
Alessandro Musco, owner
Musco produces extra virgin olive oil in Lazio from Frantoio, Leccino and Canino olives using traditional methods. He earned the Gold Award for his N2 Superfreddo, a medium blend. Last year, Musco earned a Silver Award for his N6 Classico.
"This award represents for me the achievement of a goal that has been awaited for years," Musco said. "The award gives me the motivation to improve and enthusiasm to continue to spread the culture of extra virgin olive oil around the world."
The producer added that every harvest is a challenge and 2020 was no exception.
"The biggest challenge was in the mill because the times and the super-cold method do not allow for mistakes," Musco said. "This harvest went well but I am convinced that we can still improve."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
