3 years agoBy OOT Staff

Uruguayan producer Agroland S.A. has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

Winning this award is a proud moment both for the company and for the entire team.

Victor Rodriguez, plant manager

The company produces extra virgin olive oil in the eastern province of Maldonado using traditional methods. Agroland S.A. earned the Gold Award for its Colinas de Garzon Olio Novo 2020 brand, a delicate blend.

"Winning this award is a proud moment both for the company and for the entire team," plant manager Victor Rodriguez said.

He added that the 2019/2020 crop year had been a challenging one as Uruguay was one of the first countries to harvest olives and produce oil during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed on the Official Index of the World's Best Olive Oils.
