The Groves on 41 Wins Two Awards at World Competition
The Groves on 41 from the United States has won a Gold Award and a Silver Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in California from Koroneiki and Arbequina olives using modern harvesting methods.
Karen Tallent, the president of Groves on 41 told Olive Oil Times that winning two of the industry's most coveted quality awards was "Amazing."
"We're a small farm, hard-working mother and daughter team doing most of the farming throughout the year, as well as all the marketing, Tallent said. "An honor like this means a lot and goes a long way to help market our products. It's a high honor that we enjoy celebrating with a handful of other high-quality olive oil producers in the region."
The producer won a Gold Award for its robust Koroneiki monovarietal and a Silver Award for a medium-intensity Arbequina.
"We elected for an early harvest for higher polyphenol counts and sacrificed quantity for quality," Tallent said of the 2021/22 harvest.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
