2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Greek producer Stalia has been awarded at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.

We feel perfect... It is an honor to win the Gold Award in this competition.

Katerina Bougatsou, owner

Situated in Kalamata, on the southern Peloponnese peninsula, the company earned a Gold Award for its Premium brand, a medium Koroneiki.

"We feel perfect," owner Katerina Bougatsou said. "Winning at the NYIOOC is one of the most useful awards in the world. It is an honor to win the Gold Award in this competition."

In the 2022/23 crop year, Stalia produced between 5 and 10 tons of extra virgin olive oil. Still, Bougatsou cited climate, olive fly infestations and other diseases as the main challenges she faced in producing her award-winning brand.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
