Situated in Lakonia, on the southeastern part of the Peloponnese peninsula, the family company earned the award for a medium Koroneiki.
"This award is a dream come true and we are immensely proud of it," co-owner Sakis Tsoukalidis said. "Our olive oil is now among the best in the world."
"Receiving this award was really important for us," he added. "It is an acknowledgement of our effort and hard work. This encourages us to continue to produce the best olive oil every year."
For Tsoukalidis and the rest of the company, the award is especially gratifying after the raft of challenges faced by the producer in recent years.
"Climate change, the difficult and long time we have faced with Covid-19 and the fluid economic situation that prevails are some of the difficulties we have faced," he said.
"I hope this award works as a good marketing tool and helps in the development and promotion of our work," Tsoukalidis added.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
