4 years agoBy OOT Staff

Portuguese producer Segredos Do Côa has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

We are very happy with the award. This will improve sales and marketing, in general.

Aníbal Soares, owner

In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 3,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil in Duoro from Verdeal, Madural and Negrinha de Freixo olives using traditional methods. Segredos Do Côa earned the Gold Award for its organic delicate blend for a fourth consecutive year.

"We are very happy with the award," owner Aníbal Soares said. "This will improve sales and marketing, in general."

He added that the award is especially satisfying after a tough harvest further complicated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
