S.A. Andriotis Awarded for Organic Lianelia at NYIOOC
Greek producer S.A. Andriotis has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We feel great... It is a recognition of the effort we make to produce quality organic olive oil. This gives us more strength to continue the hard work and make even better olive oil.
Nikos Andriotis, marketing manager
In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 5,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil in Agios Mattheos Kerkyras from Lianelia olives using traditional methods. S.A. Andriotis earned the Gold Award for its Olithea Corfu brand, an organic medium Lianelia.
"We feel great. We won a Gold Award in the best olive oil competition in the world," Nikos Andriotis, the company's marketing manager, said. "It is a recognition of the effort we make to produce quality organic olive oil. This gives us more strength to continue the hard work and make even better olive oil."
For the producers behind Olithea Corfu, 2020 was a mixed bag. The weather largely aided them throughout the growing season and the harvest, while the Covid-19 pandemic created plenty of complications.
"In the 2021/21 crop year, the climatic conditions were perfect for cultivation," Andriotis said. "The difficulties we faced had to do with the Covid-19 pandemic and the movement of the stuff, but we overcame it and had a very good result."
