In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 35,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil in Sicily from a blend of olives using traditional methods. Ravidà earned the Gold Award for a medium blend.
"For 30 years, at our family-run mill in Menfi, Sicily, we have aimed to produce an oil expressing the wonderful flavor characteristics and highest nutritional values achievable from Sicilian olives," owner Natalia Ravidà said. "Reaching the top ranks of the world's leading olive oil contest confirms our commitment to offering the final consumer an excellent quality oil."
Ravidà said that 2020 had been a challenging year, particularly working through the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, but harvest had high quality and quantity.
"It was a challenge to work under the restrictions of the pandemic," she said. "However, after years of uncertain and difficult harvests, 2020 yielded a quality and bountiful crop, with excellent chemical values and the perfect sensory profile in the medium fruity range for which we are known."
