The Umbrian producer earned two Gold Awards for its Single Family brand, an organic medium blend, and Heritage brand, a medium blend. Rastrello previously earned Gold Awards for both brands in 2022 and another in 2020.
"We are very proud of winning our two Golds," owner Christiane Wassmann said. "It proves that focusing on the highest quality possible brings returns. We will always strive to use the best agricultural, milling and production practices possible."
In the 2022/23 crop year, Rastrello produced 1,200 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. "A lack of water and a short spring were problems again this harvest," Wassmann said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
