Pometti Awarded Gold for Organic Tuscan Blend

2 years agoBy OOT Staff

Pometti from Italy won the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest award.

It's a great satisfaction to be receiving this recognition... Tradition and innovation can be a winning team, and we are confident that our L'Olio Bio can be the proof of it.

Carlotta Pometti, owner

The Tuscan producer earned a Gold Award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition for its L'Olio Bio brand, an organic medium blend of Leccino, Moraiolo and Pendolino olives.

"It's a great satisfaction to be receiving this recognition," owner Carlotta Pometti said. "This success stems from the very hands of those who work with us, along with the years of hard work and research we dedicated to finding the best organic cultivation processes."

"Tradition and innovation can be a winning team, and we are confident that our L'Olio Bio can be the proof of it," she added.

In the 2022/23 crop year, Pometti produced 1,962 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.

"2022 was a pretty rough year in agriculture: the severe lack of rain, the ever-rising temperatures, and, to top it all, the shortage of glass for the bottles were very serious challenges," Pometti said.

"This is why we are especially proud we still managed to produce our olive oil without being forced to renounce our environmental and ethical principles," she added.

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
