Vinko Lalin, owner
Located on the Dalmatian coast, the former hobby farm turned professional producer earned a second-consecutive Gold Award for its Dalma Premium brand, a medium blend.
"I'm extremely proud," owner Vinko Lalin said. "This is the crowning achievement of our joint family effort."
Valin first planted olives at the original farm in 1992. Since then, he and his family have expanded the groves to include 300 trees at several locations on the shores of Vrana Lake.
In the 2022/23 crop year, OPG Lalin produced 2,500 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. Lalin cited five months of extreme drought as the company's most significant obstacle during the harvest.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition held each spring in New York, is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
