Olea B.B. Wins Third Straight NYIOOC Gold for Buza Brand
Croatian producer Olea B.B. has won a third-straight award at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
Winning this award means a lot to us, not just in terms of winning, but it is also a huge confirmation of our work, and we will do our best to continue improving in the future as well.
Bosiljka Belić said about the award
Based in Istria, the company earned a Gold Award for its Oleum Viride Belic Buza brand, a medium Buza. The brand previously earned Gold Awards in 2021 and 2022.
"We are so proud and happy to be here at the NYIOOC among the best of the best in the world," owner Bosiljka Belić said. "Winning this award means a lot to us, not just in terms of winning, but it is also a huge confirmation of our work, and we will do our best to continue improving in the future as well."
In the 2022/23 crop year, Olea B.B. produced 15,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil. Belić said the harvest went fairly well, and his company was prepared for all the challenges that came along.
"We were well prepared for all the challenges facing us throughout the whole year and not just during the harvest season," he said. "That is the reason why we can not really name any in particular. This year was exceptionally good for us."
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
