Green Gold Olive Oil Company Awarded for Picual

a year agoBy OOT Staff

The Green Gold Olive Oil Company from Spain has been awarded at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.

We are really happy to know that the result of our effort is recognized in New York.

Juan Jimenez, CEO

The Andalusian producer earned a Gold Award for its Oh! brand, a medium Picual, which previously earned Gold Awards in 2017, 2018 and 2021.

"We are really happy to know that the result of our effort is recognized in New York," chief executive Juan Jimenez said.

In the 2022/23 crop year, the company produced 195 tons of olive oil. Still, Jimenez said the challenges of climate change compound those of producing high-quality versus high quantity.

"In Spain, we face a changing climate, the need to defend traditional methods and the balance between producing quality versus volume."

Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.

The complete list of winners can be viewed in the Official Guide to the World's Best Olive Oils.
