Oliviers & Co Wins 5 Awards at World Competition
French importer Oliviers & Co has won five awards at the 2023 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's largest olive oil quality contest.
Marketing manager Charlotte Billot said she was "relieved and very proud" of the Andalusian, Tuscan, Umbrian and Apulian brands, which earned four Gold Awards and one Silver Award.
Billot said the 2022/23 crop year was challenging, with southern Europe's severe drought limiting Oliviers & Co's selection.
The Mane-based company earned Gold Awards for Monva, a medium Picual; Fornacino, a medium blend; Sabino Leone Organic, an organic medium Coratina; and Frantoio Pruneti Organic, an organic medium blend. They earned the Silver Award for Mascio, a medium blend.
The French importer has a long history of success at the NYIOOC, receiving over 20 awards since 2019. Monva, from Andalusia, earned its fifth consecutive Gold Award at the competition, while Fornacino, from Tuscany, won its third Gold since 2019.
Apulian Sabine Leone also earned a third-straight Gold Award, and Umbria's Mascio celebrated its first success at the competition.
Held each spring in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the world's most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year's best extra virgin olive oils.
