The Puglian-based company took home the award for its robust Coratina monovareital.
"It's always a very important target that we strive to reach; a satisfying feeling after each harvest," owner Spiros Borraccino said. "We and all our clients look forward to this event and the results. We have won Gold now for five years in a row."
In the 2019/20 season, the company produced 10,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Borraccino said Oilalà and the region were lucky this year, enjoying perfect harvest conditions.
"Thank God, in the Apulia region we had a perfect harvest, great quality and one of the largest harvests of last 10 years," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
