Mercorural Triumphs at World Competition with Organic Blend
Portuguese producer Mercorural has won its first-ever Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We are very proud of this prize and it is a great reward for all the people who participate in the process.

Sprawling over 285 hectares in the northern wine-soaked region of Trás-os-Montes, Mercorural earned the award for its Quinta São Miguel do Seixo brand, an organic medium blend.
"We are very proud of this prize and it is a great reward for all the people who participate in the process," said Eduardo Casas, the company's marketing manager.
In the 2021/22 crop year, the company produced 8,000 liters of organic extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods. Casas attributed the company's success to a smooth harvest that started at just the right moment.
"We chose the right moment to start the harvest and assure that during that time all procedures and logistics are settled," he said.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
