Škrobica Family Awarded for Outstanding Oblica
Croatian producer OPG Škrobica has won its first-ever award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
Based on the island of Čiovo, with groves overlooking Split and the Dalmatian coast, the Škrobica family earned a Silver Award for its O Olive Oil brand, a delicate Oblica.
"We feel really proud and happy," owner Sandra Škrobica said. "This award means that we have high-quality olive oil that is just as good as the world's best olive oils."
"Our grandparents have planted most of the olive groves we have today, and in the last 10 years we have breathed new life into the centuries-old olive groves," she added. "We are actively expanding plantations, introducing new varieties and creating blends of interesting features."
The result is even more gratifying for the third-generation olive grower after challenging climatic conditions complicated the harvest. "The biggest challenge was the drought during the summer months," Škrobica said
