Makaria Terra Celebrates Gold at World Olive Oil Competition
Greek producer Makaria Terra has won a Gold Award for its medium monovarietal at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
It is the third time we receive a Gold Award at NYIOOC. Despite this, we feel like we did the first time. For our company, it is a tangible reward that shows we do things properly to produce the best olive oil we can from our own olive groves.

Situated in the renowned oil producing region of Kalamata, Makaria Terra produced 10,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil in the 2019/20 season, exclusively harvesting Koroneiki olives by traditional methods.
"It is the third time we receive a Gold Award at NYIOOC," owner Evgenia Andriopoulou said. "Despite this, we feel like we did the first time. For our company, it is a tangible reward that shows we do things properly to produce the best olive oil we can from our own olive groves."
Makaria Terra won Gold this year for its medium Koroneiki.
Upon hearing of the news of his award, Andriopoulou was able to breathe a sigh of relief and said the company just managed to get by after a particularly challenging season.
"The biggest challenge has been the absence of rain and high temperatures over the summer," he said. "We have just made it though and came through with a very rewarding outcome."
