Magamila’s Organic Blend Wins NYIOOC Award
Magamila from Italy has won a Silver Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil in Sicilia (Italy) from Cerasuola, Biancolilla and Nocellara Etnea olives using traditional harvesting methods.
We are so grateful to have won such a prestigious competition. Mostly because we have worked so hard, from the production to the bottling to ensure that our olive oil is of the highest quality and it is rewarding to see this hard work pay off.
Costanza Scelfo
Magamila won a Silver Award for its handsomely packaged Magamila, an organic medium-intensity blend made in Sicily.
The 2021/2022 season was marked by significant challenges, the company's owner said after receiving news of the award.
"The biggest challenge this year was the climate. It has been extremely unpredictable and variable," Costanza Scelfo told Olive Oil Times. "It would go from extreme heat to torrential rain and strong winds which means that the olive trees suffered a loss of olives."
"We are so grateful to have won such a prestigious competition," he added. "Mostly because we have worked so hard, from the production to the bottling to ensure that our olive oil is of the highest quality and it is rewarding to see this hard work pay off."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
