Ariadne Pure Products Awarded for Outstanding Koroneiki
Ariadne Pure Products from Greece has won a Silver Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
The company produces organic extra virgin olive oil in Kolymvari Chanion Kritis (Greece) from Koroneiki olives using traditional methods.
Being able to produce an award-winning EVOO in our short lifespan as a company is extremely rewarding unto itself," said Lefteris Markantonakis, the owner of Ariadne Pure Products. "We made a decision to blend tradition with the scientific method and we are happy to see that our approach has borne fruit in a short period of time."
Ariadne Pure Products won a Silver Award for its Cretan Labyrinth Organic, an organic medium Koroneiki.
"The weather has become exceptionally hot and dry recently. 2021 was particularly warm, which adversely affected our harvest both in terms of quantity as well as quality," Markantonakis told Olive Oil Times. "In addition to that, labor costs were higher this year since we needed to monitor the trees' health more often and we also had to harvest the olives before dawn to avoid oxidation."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest and its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
