Azeite Origen Trevisan Awarded at World Competition
Brazilian producer Azeite Origen Trevisan has won a Gold Award at the 2022 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We are very happy and honored with the award, to see our years of work being recognized. It took a lot of dedication and many people to help construct this project.
Paula Trevisan, owner
Situated in the Serra da Mantiqueira in Minas Gerais, the company earned the award for a medium blend.
"We are very happy and honored with the award, to see our years of work being recognized," owner Paula Trevisan said. "It took a lot of dedication and many people to help construct this project. The award means a lot to our company."
In the 2021/22 crop year, Azeite Origen Trevisan produced 1,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil using traditional methods.
Despite the success, Trevisan said that a fungus infestation in the olive groves had complicated the harvest and forced some of the olives to be picked early.
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
