It is a great feeling to be an award winner two years in a row. It gives us the motivation to continue further and become better.

The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Kefalonia using methods. Liocharis Kefalonia earned the Silver Award for its Liocharis brand, a medium blend, for the second consecutive year.
"It is a great feeling to be an award winner two years in a row," owner Dionysios Garbis said. "It gives us the motivation to continue further and become better."
"It means that our knowledge in the field continues to grow," he added. "We keep in mind that comparing to others in the industry we are newbies but we are catching up. We want to establish the Liocharis brand in the olive sector."
For the producers behind Liocharis Kefalonia, this year's victory is especially rewarding after a tough harvest in 2020.
"The weather during olive campaign wasn't favorable," Garbis said. "Dry and hot weather had a significant impact on the quality of the olives."
"We had to apply special techniques in the olive mill to avoid the creation of emulsion," he added. "Furthermore, the crop had to be chosen with strict criteria in the patio before we decide to process it."
The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
