Lagar H Agroindústria Awarded After First Harvest
Brazilian producer Lagar H Agroindústria has won a Gold and Silver Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.
We are very proud and honored to win such a respected prize. This is our first commercial harvest after seven years of work and we feel that all the effort to work respecting the land, nature, people and time was worth it.
Glenda Haas said about the award
In the 2020/21 crop year, the company produced 10,000 liters of extra virgin olive oil in Rio Grande do Sul using traditional harvesting methods.
"We are very proud and honored to win such a respected prize," Glenda Haas, the company's CEO, said. "This is our first commercial harvest after seven years of work and we feel that all the effort to work respecting the land, nature, people and time was worth it."
Lagar H Agroindústria earned the Gold Award for its Monovarietal da Safra, a medium Koroneiki and the Silver Award for its delicate Blend da Safra.
Haas added that despite the company's success at this year's competition, there were plenty of challenges and a lot of learning on the way.
"Besides the effort to protect our people from Covid-19, we also faced some delays in the delivery of harvest materials," she said. "We were also performing a study on the maturation point of our olives, and the crop was twice as much as we estimated. It was a very challenging harvest, full of learning."
