3 years agoBy OOT Staff

Greek producer Hellenic Fine Oils has won a Gold Award at the 2021 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the world's most prestigious olive oil quality contest.

What an honor to win a Gold Award. This award helps market the Ananias PDO Kalamata in a better way and it paves the way for improved sales and brand awareness. We are happy that the efforts of the farmers are recognized and this excellent olive oil can be enjoyed all around the world.

Nicky Giavroglou, CEO

The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Kalamata from Koroneiki olives using traditional methods. Hellenic Fine Oils earned the Gold Award for its medium Ananias PDO Kalamata.

"What an honor to win a Gold Award," Nicky Giavroglou, the company's CEO, said. "This award helps market the Ananias PDO Kalamata in a better way and it paves the way for improved sales and brand awareness."

"We are happy that the efforts of the farmers are recognized and this excellent olive oil can be enjoyed all around the world," he added.

This year's NYIOOC triumph was especially rewarding for the producers after overcoming all the challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"The main challenge that we faced this year was mainly the pandemic, which made all operations a bit more difficult," Giavroglou said. "However, our efforts were rewarded by an excellent result at this competition."

The NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, held each spring in New York, is the world's largest and most prestigious olive oil contest. Its annual listing of award winners is considered the authoritative guide to the year’s best extra virgin olive oils.
