HDMP Wins 3 Awards at World Olive Oil Competition
The French producer HDMP has won three Gold Awards at the 2020 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition.
I feel very happy. We had already been awarded in 2019, but we improved our products thanks to our brand-new and on-farm mill. We are getting more immersed in the fascinating world of extra virgin olive oil and we are looking forward to sharing it.
Mouna Berdi said about the award
The company earned the awards for two medium-intensity Arbequina monovarietals: Parcelle 26 First Harvest and Parcelle 26 Second Harvest. It picked up the third Gold for Parcelle 26 Selection, a medium blend.
The company produces extra virgin olive oil in Tunisia from Arbequina and Chetoui olives using traditional harvesting methods.
"I feel very happy. We had already been awarded in 2019, but we improved our products thanks to our brand-new and on-farm mill," co-owner Mouna Berdi said. "This very close location allows us to pick, select and process olives in better conditions."
"I feel we can still improve too," she added. "We are getting more immersed in the fascinating world of extra virgin olive oil and we are looking forward to sharing it."
Berdi said that overall the 2019 harvest was a pretty good year, even though there were some bumps along the way.
"At the time of blooming in 2019, everything pointed to an exceptional harvest," she said. "Later on, the fruit went through some difficult times. But, in the end, we had a great harvest."
"We’ve accomplished a significant milestone by installing our new olive mill on-farm," Berdi added. "We believe that challenge will open new horizons in order to give consumers the best."
